Hurricane Ike - September '08
Hurricane Ike was a blast! We're far enough from the coast to be out of the coastal flood plane, but the wind and rain were violent. It made for a lot of work and we were without power for 14 days. We lost 2 oak trees that were over 50 ft tall, but there were no injuries in our neighborhood. (No significant damage to our house) It also made for a memorable 58th birthday!
My Tennis Partner-Dee Harris
Here is me and very good friend and my tennis partner, Dee Harris. Dee and I have played together as a team for at least the past dozen years or so. We play many leagues and state wide tournaments. Our hightest state ranking was fourth in the state in 2007 for all players between age 50 and 55. All of the other state ranked top ten doubles teams played division one college tennis. Dee and I love to play the college guys. gde

Cubs Football - 7th Grade
Late Summer of 1967 at Venice Beach, California
I was lucky to have the opportunity to spend a couple of months in Long Beach, California with Dennis Wayne Jones and his family. Troy Don Corbin and I had been body surfing all day and we debated spending the $1 to have this photo made on the Boardwalk at Venice Beach. Coach, sorry I could not get back in time for two a days, that sounded like fun too. gde

Beatles fans
Kathy and I tell people we got married (in 1991) because we're both Beatles fans and we both like salt on our chips. Well, those are two of the smaller reasons. Above, we're walking across Abbey Road in 2002 when we got to go to London. It's the same intersection the Beatles walked across on the Abbey Road album. So far, that was the best trip ever! (Although the one some of us McLean people took in 1970 was great, too...) --Mike H.
Tech fans
This is my wife Kathy and I at the 2005 Cotton Bowl. (We also went to this year's Cotton Bowl, but the 2005 picture is better!) My first Texas Tech bowl game was at the Sun Bowl in 1970 or 1971, when several McLean guys went to El Paso. Now I've been to seven Tech bowl games, and they've lost every one! (The Red Raiders have won a bunch of bowl games lately, but not the ones I attended.) --Mike H.

MHS Senior Trent Darsey
Mike & Leslie Darsey's son Trent is shown here playing in the state playoffs verses Happy. Both the McLean boys and girls won district but lost in bi-district games.
Trent was All-District in basketball. Trent was also All-District in six man football plus he was named to the Amarillo News 2008 Six Man Golden Spread Super Team. Mike and family are currently skiing in Copper Mountain, Colorado.
