McLean basketball

The McLean basketball season starts Tuesday. Of course, I'm yelling for the boys, but I'll admit, I'm a little biased toward the girls since our niece, Sheri Ann, is a senior for the Lady Tigers (yeah, I prefer the old Tigerettes, but I guess we can't keep all the traditions).
(Sheri Ann is David's daughter. David and Ginger's son, John, is on the tennis team at Seward College in Liberal, Kan.)
And the MHS girls have a chance to win state this year! Everything would have to go just right -- no injuries, etc. -- but they do have the talent to do it.
For anyone close enough to make any of the games, I'm posting the schedule here (boys and girls). The first game against Follett will be a real test, because Follett won state year before last.
And if McLean makes it to Austin, I'll be sure and let you know!

Capitol 10,000 Racein Austin-2004

Here is photo of me and Coach in 2004 just after we ran the Capitol 10K race. We are scheduled to run it again next year on April 11, 2010. Come to Austin and join us. Look where I put my race tag and check out where Coach chose to put his. Yes, that is a 16 gallon keg of beer behind us. And no, I have no idea what that warmer around his waist is intended to do. gde

Concert news

Gary's right; we don't want to lose track of each other, and this blog is a good way to keep in touch.
The latest interesting thing from Amarillo: Kathy and I drove to Norman, Okla., last weekend to the U2 concert. OU's stadium had 60,000 people there, and the stage, video board, etc., were pretty amazing.
U2 isn't exactly from our era, and they're no Beatles, but they are impressive (if you can ignore Bono's political stuff). (I have some pictures, but they're on my phone and I haven't had time to put them on the computer yet.)
We had a good time. I guess they had room in Norman for concertgoers, because all the Sooner fans were in Dallas for the UT game.
